How would the poets

feel about me, in

their long dresses

Short lives. Me

wearing a crop top

midriff -

bare to the rest.

how would i look in a frock

in a play

in a corset

tightened to be a man’s wife

on Friday at 8 and Saturday at 8

the following weekend.

if only life

was a burst of short performances

half a tab

rolling not amongst the trees, as thou,

but rolling against our own misgivings

misguided children in tight clothes, limited

minds stretching long enough to memorize

lines
